PRACTICE QUESTIONS FOR WRITING

I’ve just included a bundle of questions for each of the writing tasks. So make sure you use them to practise your writing.

Students often ask me if they should time themselves with their writing and many say that 20 minutes and 40 minutes doesn’t give them enough time.

Well, the first thing you need to do is just practice. Don’t worry about the clock. Get used to writing that number of words and thinking about the parameters (length, structure, vocab, grammar, relevant answer). When you feel reasonably comfortable with the length and so on, then you can start practising it under timed conditions.

It is not going to happen overnight and it certainly won’t happen by magic. YOU need to do the HARD WORK! It isn’t really very hard, it is just a matter of putting in the time to understand and produce what is required.

So happy writing … and please feel free to comment on this page if you need help with something.

Best
Melinda.
