The word ‘involve‘ dates back to the 14th century. It originally meant ‘to roll into’ or to ‘mix together.’ Today the meaning is similar ; it means to include  something or be a result of something.

Example of today’s usage:

• My new job involves a lot of travel.
• She is involved in a long and nasty court case.
